Farrar served in those capacities until 1947, setting the stage fo the TPH to continue as the Department's clinical, teaching, research and administrative nexus until succeeded in 1966 by the Clarke Institute." Benedict Augustin Morel [1809-1873] Austrian-French physician, an important figure in the pyschiatry in the 19th century. Morel used the phrase "demence percoce" which later was called the the Latin name "dementia praecox" by Kraepelin, and is now known as schizophrenia. His theory of degeneration dominated French psychiatry for almost a century after its publication in 1857.
