The American-born printer Nahum Mower (1779?-1830) immigrated to Montreal in 1807, where he became the owner and editor of the newspaper The Canadian Courant and Montreal Advertiser. In 1815 he became the publisher of another newspaper, The Canadian Inspector and in 1823 he started a monthly magazine, The Canadian Magazine. Mower also built up a fairly successful book printing business. $300
