This copy has been inscribed by Colgate to ‘Dora Hood's Book Room, in grateful acknowledgement and with every good wish William Colgate, 21 November 1966.' 4to., orig. green cloth with a printed paper label on the upper board, (27)pp. Some rubbing to the foot of the spine o/w a very nice copy.
The American-born printer Nahum Mower (1779?-1830) immigrated to Montreal in 1807, where he became the owner and editor of the newspaper The Canadian Courant and Montreal Advertiser. In 1815 he became the publisher of another newspaper, The Canadian Inspector and in 1823 he started a monthly magazine, The Canadian Magazine. Mower also built up a fairly successful book printing business.
