A lively collection of tales in the style of Boccaccio drawing on various other sources including Greek myths (Andromeda, Hero & Lyander, etc) as well as Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew, and the Arabian Nights. The tales are amusing and erotic and are accompanied by engravings which complement the subject (wayward virgins and erring monks, in flagrante delicto). The "Nuits" contains 74 tales followed by a verse "enigma." $850 CAD
