London: Heinemann, (1967). Uncorrected proof copy of the authors first book.
Wrappers.
Library stamp on half title, no other library markings in fact a near fine copy in the d/w with "Uncorrected Proof" at the foot of the front flap, the d/w has some creasing at the top as is oversize, a chip at the top of the front panel affecting the title but is o/w very nice. Scarce.
"This deeply sensitive portrait of Damascus past and present is an unique work. The author is strongly perceptive whether he is describing the foibles of his Arab family or a dervish ceremony, and Damascus proves herself more fascinating than the myth which surrounds her name." $275 CAD
