Helen Hunt Jackson (1830-1885) American novelist, essayist, poet and Indian rights activist was described by Emerson as "America's greatest woman poet." She wrote hundreds of articles and reviews, many under her pseudonym, "H.H." but her greatest achievement was her pioneering work for Indian rights, writing an expose of government maltreatment of the Indians, "A Century of Dishonor." The above work is divided into three sections; "California and Oregon," "Scotland and England," and "Norway, Denmark and Sweden."
