HANLEY, James.
Stoker Bush. London: Chatto & Windus, 1935. Centaur Library edition, first edition sheets. Fine in a near fine, price clipped dustwrapper. This copy has an oval label affixed to the spine reading ?No. 86 The Centaur Library, 3s,6d Net.? This is clearly the issue referred to in Gibbs A15c, which he dates ?1937? but also states he was unable to examine a copy and therefore explains the fact that he did not note that it was the first edition sheets and binding, with the only indication, the printed label on the d/w. It would appear that both this and the subsequent entry for the ?Armed Services Edition? were both done from the 2500 copies of the sheets of the first edition. Our copy has a price of ?2/6? in pencil on the front pastedown.

HARDIE, Norman.
In Highest Nepal. Our Life Among the Sherpas. London: George Allen & Unwin, (1957). First edition. Cloth, 190pp. Small rubber stamp on e/paper o/w fine in d/w with some browning on the rear panel but still near fine. Scarce. Norman Hardie was a climbing comrade of Sir Edmund Hillary and was one of those who scaled Kangchejunga, the third highest mountain in the world. At the end of the expedition, Hardie parted with the main expedition and walked with his Sherpa companions across the high ranges and through the deep valleys of upper Nepal. Hardie stopped at the Sherpa village of Khumjung where he lived for several months, sharing and learning about Sherpa life. A fascinating account.
