The Author's sole object of going up to Lapland was for the purpose of collecting birds and eggs." The author also finds time to "wax lyrical on the fish peculiar to these waters, the reptiles and insects of Lapland, the mammalia belonging to the district and includes a chapter on the ornithology of Vaardol, in Eastern Finland, lying contiguous to the North Cape."
