New York: "Poland Fights" Polish Labor Group, (1944). First edition. 8vo., orig. printed wrappers, 38, (1)p. ad. Offsetting to upper wrapper o/w near fine.
A contemporary pamphlet published by the Polish Labor Group on the legal conditions for both Poles and Polish Jews in Nazi-occupied Poland. With a preface by the Pulitzer Prize winning American journalist, Edgar Mowrer, the pamphlet discusses slave labour and executions, with the hope of bringing attention to the atrocities and legal abuses committed by the Nazis. Mowrer, an American correspondent, won the Pulitzer Prize in 1933 for his reporting on the rise of Hitler in Germany. His anti-Nazi reporting put his life in danger in late 1933, Mowrer agreed to leave when American diplomats could no longer guarantee his safety, but he only agreed to do so after the American Ambassador William Dodd arranged for the release of Paul Goldmann, an elderly Jewish correspondent for the Austrian newspaper, Neue Freie Presse.
