Chrysostomus Hanthaler [1690-1754] born in Austria, a Cistercian, historical investigator and writer. Situated in the Cistercian monastery at Lilienfeld, Hanthaler first produced a reliable catalogue of documents pertaining to Lilienfeld and Austria. His transcripts of memorial tablets, seals, and coins filled twenty-two volumes, from which he produced Fasti Comampililenses (1747-1754). Hanthaler produced other works, including the above title, Exercitationes, which revealed his knowledge of numismatics and it proved to be an excellent book of instruction for amateur collectors.
