12.5 x 15.5cm, mounted with four mother of pearl onlays.
An attractive original watercolour design from the studio of Cedric Chivers for one of his trademark vellucent bindings. The design appears to be finished and ready to be affixed to a book cover which would then have been overlaid with vellum to produce the famous Chivers binding style.
The design takes the form of a mosaic pattern enclosing a swirling border around the title ‘La Basilica di San Marco.' The work is finished with four mother of pearl diamond shape onlays.
