Paris: Librairie Des Bibliophiles, 1884. Later edition (first published 1754 with a fictitious imprint). Sm. 8vo., cont. red half calf, marble boards, (xii), 99pp. With an engraved frontispiece. Fine.
The Abbe Coyer was noted for his pamphlet written in a light vein and with finesse, which behind a frivolous appearance, contained lessons in wisdom. Collected under the title "Bagatelles Morale" they were judged at the time of their appearance with an enthusiasm they did not merit, and, a little later, criticized with a bile equally misplaced.
