There are actually 180 pp as what would be the versos, are numbered with 1/2, so the pagination runs pp. 1, 1 1/2, 2, 2 1/2 etc. There is a dampstain in the right-hand margin which penetrates into the text of the first dozen leaves, last leaf is a bit crumpled along the edge o/w this is a very good copy.
The author, a former officer in the British army in India, is a best remembered for his memoir, Lives of a Bengal Lancer, published in 1930.
