Tall 8vo., orig. cloth, 213, (2)pp.ads. Foxing throughout, heaviest on the first and last pages, there is a water stain on the lower corner of the last 100 pp. not affecting text, some light wear to lower edge of the front board but in fact a very nice copy. "Coggeshall was an American sea captain for nearly twenty-six years, having recived his first command in 1809. Privateering occupied him during the War of 1812. This book includes an interesting voyage in the schooner Sea Serpent, from New York to Callao, Peru, in the years 1821-22. He wrote several popular books on voyages during the 1850's." (Hill).
