The “two best dressed women” are Elsie Louise Ferguson (1883-1961), a stage and film actress, and Irene Castle (1893-1969), a ballroom dancer and silent film star who, with her husband Vernon Castle, pioneered the dance known as the Castle Walk. “Corticelli Silks will wear and wear and never lose their exquisite freshness. You will find them marvellously beautiful for evening wear and yet practical enough for any kind of street and daytime frock.”
