CANADIAN DANCE & BANQUET CARDS/GUELPH. An assortment of 22 dance and banquet cards from the 1930s (1934-1940).
All the cards were printed for dances at institutions located in Guelph, Ontario: the Ontario Agricultural College (16); The Ontario Veterinary College (2); MacDonald Institute (3); and one from the University of Guelph Athletics Department. While the printers are not always stated, those that are identified are local Guelph printers. The cards range in size from 13x7.5 cm to 16x11cm, and the pagination ranges from 4pp.-8pp., with those for dinner dances being longer as the menu is printed as well as the ‘dance card' portion. Some are printed in two colours with a simple design while others are more elaborate – a specific shape or multi-coloured printing. The events are all clearly identified, for example: Sophomore Dance, Junior Dance, Senior Dance, 37 Grad, Conversazione, Valentine's Banquet, St. Patrick's Day, Rugby/Soccer Victory Dance.
