London: Printed for the Author, 1742. First edition. 4to., recently rebound in dark blue half calf, marble boards, raised bands, leather label, (viii), 240, (12)p. index. With seven copper engraved plates. This copy lacks the list of subscribers, contemporary name on titlepage, title a bit foxed with light foxing on two leaves but o/w a near fine copy.
A curious work on serpents which combines both factual information about the natural history of snakes, serpents, spiders and lizards, with mythological and religious aspects of serpents.
