London: Printed for Edward and Charles Dilly, 1768. Second edition. Tall 8vo., recently rebound with leather spine, cloth, raised bands, leather labels, xxii, 1, (1)-384pp. With a folding map. Name, stamps on title, the folding map has been professionally reinforced o/w a very nice copy.
"This work made Boswell famous. It is a lively account of his Quixotic adventures in Corsica and his association with General Paoli, whom he later exhibited in London... His childish pleasure being the chief sponsor of this wild island struggling to become a nation led him to wear Corsican costume at Garrick's anniversary celebration in honour of Shakespeare in 1769 at Stratford-Upon-Avon. Dr. Johnson praised his tour." Cox p138 citing the first edition, notes second edition.
