London: George Routledge and Sons, 1890. Second edition. (so stated). Sm.4to., orig. rust cloth with elaborate pictorial decoration on the upper cover and the spine, xxiv, 389pp. With illustrations and with a folding map. A near fine copy.
After her first travel book, a childrens picture book of Belguim, Edwards decided to go farther afield. In 1872 she set off with a friend to make a tour of the Dolomite mountains. As there were no roads, they travelled by railroad, horseback and on foot. Her account of her travels was first published in 1873 as "Untrodden Peaks and Unfrequented Valleys" and it was so popular that it was reprinted several times under the "Midsummer Ramble."
