New York: Random House, 1934. First U.S. edition. 8vo., orig. white cloth with titles in red and black. In the presumed first issue dustwrapper bearing Reichl's name. The front inner hinge has some minor cracking which may have been repaired. The dustwrapper has some light chipping at head and foot of spine just beginning to affect the title and a close tear with no loss across the spine but is generally very good.
This U.S. edition contains a forward by Morris Ernest regarding the censorship case against Ulysses and the Court decision by Judge Woolsey lifting the ban. It also contains a 3pp letter from Joyce to Bennett Cerf regarding the publishing history of Ulysses and others of Joyce's work.
