Toronto: Copp,Clark Co., Limited, Publishers, (1909). First Canadian edition. Unrecorded. Sm.4to., orig. light green pictorial cloth, 261, (1), p. 263-264.ads. The Canadian edition matches all the first edition, first state points of the Reilly & Britton edition of 1909, including the "Laura Bancroft adverts," "four Baum titles listed on p.264," paper colour as in state 1, textual points in the earliest state. The binding design is identical save for the imprint at the foot of the spine which reads"The Copp,/Clark Co." There is some very light soiling to the rear board, the upper corner of the rear board is slightly bumped, a touch of rubbing to the red board on the upper cover but this is in fact, a fine copy of a rare book.
Not noted in Hinke's bibliography of Oz In Canada which states "No evidence has been thus far discovered for the existence of a Copp Clark issue of Road to Oz in 1909. The first recorded publication of the Road to Oz in Canada is the Canadian printing circa 1941." The setting of the imprint on the titlepage matches the earliest version of the Copp Clark imprints found on both Ozma of Oz (1908) and Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz (1908) and the spine imprint corresponds to Hinke p.67 #1 for titles printed before 1912.
