London: Printed for Abel Roper..., 1699. First edition. 8vo., full cont. calf, which has been professionally rebacked with a new spine in the 19th century, raised bands, leather label, (32), 367pp. Bookplate, rebacked as stated above, foxing throughout sometime heavy but still a very good copy.

James Drake [1667-1707] political writer, educated at Cambridge. In 1697 he had a share in a successful pamphlet, "Commendatory Verses upon the Author of Prince Author and King Arthur." Drake is primarily known as a vigorous Tory pamphleteer though he did write other works, including the above, his "answer to Collier."
